Default Christmas Skin

I have to admit, I love it, but why did the forums have to be shut down to add it?

Is there some complicated installation process of the skin I'm not getting here? Because I run my own forum and I don't think I've ever had to shut it down for a skin.

For maintenance, thats it. Nothing anymore exciting than taking stock basically and the skin was just an added extra. Unlike other sites we dont wait until theres a huge problem, lose the database then maintain the site, we take care of things as we go.

Very old hat to shut a site down for maintenance unless you are still in an early development cycle.

Also, the down time could be very hazardous to your search listings as I do see the bots coming through a fair bit, and down time like that has a big impact as you have changed the whole site and the bot thinks the site is different and resets the ranking.

Could try and run a mirror database then merge and test any additional files you are adding on a test folder or locally.

Man, one of my sites had to shut down for maintenance then it would be down 20 hours in 5 days (we did work this out). So we just used a process which mirrors then updates. Easy stuff

With respect Wolfie, you have no idea what I was doing so please dont presume you do.

I do know exactly what Im doing, I consider every action and reaction, dont you worry about that.

I am 100% positive that the downtime was 100% successful and was totally worth it. I know what I did you see, that makes it easy stuff for me .

Funnily enough, I do develop and maintain sites that get about 5000 unique hits a day on average, so I thought I could help with something I know a fair bit on?
