Default Double posting?

i'm confused here "pals" ... in the singstar thread johnny complained "Also, easy on the double posting, pal."... can just assume that he meant the two posts that i'd written earlier. the second one a few hours after the first one (really cannot remember the exact times anymore as now it only says 1 day ago)....

is the rule then.. if you've written a post that still is the last one in the thread and after x hours u come up with a new story to tell, u *must* *always* edit yr existing post and add yr story there??????? what if the two texts r different but belong under the same title?????

If you have 'new info' to add to the thread that you feel should be posted separately to your first post or perhaps you want to 'bump' the thread to get more attention to it (after hours have passed for example) then, go ahead and double post HOWEVER, double posts will be merged together by mods/admins when they feel they should be. I personally do that once the obvious reason for the double post has passed (eg if you are updating the thread and a few people have posted since then so theres no need for the double post) or I'll post in the thread myself to keep it active then merge the double post.

Hell, Im confusing things arent I?

Basically, on forums generally it is seen as a bad thing to double post. On GirlGamers, its your choice to double post or not (you do what you think is best for the thread) and our staff will manage the double posts that arent needed.

ok. i was a bit confused about what had happend to my posts earlier so now it makes sense.. thanks queenb for clarifying!

though i think it would be more helpful to just post a link to the relevant part of the rules if someone is making a mistake somewhere in the threads.... i've been part of the forums that just dont care about this stuff so dont really hav that much experience on the subject.....

Its ok and here is a link to the rules:

[Only registered users can see links. ]

They should be easier to find but, personally I prefer not to push the rules into our members faces, we're a gaming community not a state penitentiary .

EDIT: and now they are easier to find, Bex has just made them an 'announcement' - [Only registered users can see links. ]
