Default Piracy

So the RIAA and MPAA are out in full force combating piracy. Good for them, but it seems to me the money they spend on fighting piracy they should be spending trying to figure out how to stop people from pirating?

Which brings me to DRM

Digital rights management (DRM) is an [Only registered users can see links. ] that refers to [Only registered users can see links. ][Only registered users can see links. ] holders to limit usage of digital media or devices. It may also refer to restrictions associated with specific instances of digital works or devices. To some extent, DRM overlaps with [Only registered users can see links. ], but DRM is usually applied to creative media (music, films, etc.) whereas copy protection typically refers to software.

Is DRM really useful? If you ask me it creates piracy. It forces (yes I said forces) people to pirate. What if you paid a little more for a music single or cd but could share it up to 10 times? Would that cut down on the pirating of some material? Buy a DVD and be able to burn it to a dvd and or copy it to at least 4- 5 computers (of course I would expect to pay a little more for this service).

Seems the industry wants us to stay in the stone ages with them instead of catching up to the present? They want to put the hammer down without trying to meet the consumer half way.

Until then my good people
